Family Law deals with various issues related to custody of the children, child support, maintenance, visitation with the children and other matters that fall under the jurisdiction of the family  court.  The petitioner is the individual seeking relief from the court.  The matter will be heard before a support magistrate, judge or referee.  All discovery should be exchanged and if the matter cannot be settled then a trial date is set to resolve any remaining issues.
